Red line torpedo barbs (also known as Denison’s barbs) Are One of the most striking additions for a medium – large community fish tank. They get their name from the intense red stripe that appears to have been painted from their nose down the body. They originate from southern India and they provide a colourful, smaller alternative to fish like silver sharks.
Red line torpedo’s are a shoaling fish that is best kept in groups. They are usually very peaceful with other species. These are very active fish and for that reason alone they should not be kept with shy species such as chocolate gouramis.
Due to their active nature they appreciate an aquarium with plenty of open space. Floating plants such as duckweed and salvinia provide them with shaded areas to rest. All floating and slow sinking foods are accepted by these fish and Brine Shrimp seems to be a particular favourite.
