Kribensis are a small Cichlid from shallow, well vegetated rivers in Southern Nigeria and Cameroon. Both males and females have stunning colours and display to each other. they set up a very small territory in undewater caves or other hollow ornaments and will raise their babies together.
A tank for Kribs should have lots of décor to make them feel secure. They mainly use the lower portion of the aquarium so ornaments should allow these fish to swim through them. Open swimming space in the centre of the tank is used by Kribs to display their beautiful fins to each other.
The diet should comprise of a mixture of sinking foods and live foods such as bloodworm.
While kribensis are very peaceful fish care must be taken with very small fish as they may be seen as a meal. Long finned fish are best avoided too as these fish may nip at long trailing fins.
