Black widows are a larger species of tetra. They are a high energy species that does best in small shoals. Caution should be used when mixing them with long-finned species as they can become quarrelsome. Other large tetras, dwarf gouramis and smaller cichlids such as Rams make great tank mates for Black Widows.
As with most tetras, Black Widows are from South America. This means that they prefer soft, slightly acidic water conditions.
Black Widows are mid water feeding omnivores. They prefer a variety of foods including daphnia, flake and small pellets. These fish are a shoaling tetra and should be kept in groups of at least six. If you keep even larger numbers, it is more likely that they will express better colours and natural behaviour.
